Orthopaedic LIST is the epitome of a custom database application. There are several facets to the application they have now implements. The founder of this website, Dr. James D. Hundley, Sr., wanted a portal for orthopedic professionals.
Marlian Company developed a database application for Dr. Hundley that would be a repository for all things orthopaedic professionals would ever need to research: orthopedic devices, surgical instruments, orthopaedic surgical techniques, orthopedic implants, cme and organizations.
The public user can now find any indexed product, orthopedic devices, surgical implants, an more by manufacturer/organization, category or by keyword search. If they find a product that they are looking to purchase, they can fill out a product request form to have us line up a purchase.
Another unique feature is the X-ray Identification section available to the public. Surgeons and physicians can submit redacted, high resolution xray images of unknown surgical implants. These can in turn be viewed and identified by other qualified users. When an identification is made, the submitter is notified with a probable match.
The real power of the orthopaediclist.com website is in the administrative back end website. Here administrators can update and mange all the data displayed in their products search. They can manage what information displays by manufacturer and many other options. All changes of data can be tracked by the user profile of the logged in manager.
Product requests for purchase are also submitted to this back end. This gives them the ability to track the process of the product requests and their status.
They can also view manger information: who's changing what and when. Specified users can also view the X-ray Identification submissions and approve them for public access, as well as update them and send notices when identified.
The public user can also submit general orthopaedic questions that are responded to by qualified professionals who can research your queries. After 6 years in the business, they have created a loyal following and strong amount of website traffic.
Orthopaedic LIST also took advantage of our SEO, or search engine optimization, features we can build into custom database applications. By utilizing dynamic TITLE tags and META generation features in the public side of the website we were able to achieve a quick and extensive response from the search engines. Google alone is responsible for approximately 90% of all traffic to this website.
The actual orthopaediclist.com website is only around two dozen flat pages, but they have nearly 9000 products and 2500 manufacturers. A typical submission would only allow for the submission of a couple dozen links. After developing a custom site map based on their database and managing their Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools, we were able to submit over 8500 link, or URLS - nearly 7000 of which are now actually indexed.
